The PvP world

Keep what you kill

Other players can attack you anywhere outside the safe places, and what you drop goes to your killer.

To fight, right-click a player and pick Attack.

On the PvP board a kill scores 5 to 20 points, more against a higher level, plus up to 10 for your streak. A death costs 5.

Outside Varrock West Bank, a level 82 right-clicks a level 61 player: Attack, Walk here, Follow, Trade with.

Who can attack you

Anyone within 25 combat levels of you. The meter at the bottom right of your game screen shows the range.

Deeper than Wilderness level 25, the range is the shallower player's Wilderness level.

Up to Wilderness 25
The PvP meter of a level 82: a skull over "Combat 57-107".
Wilderness 40
The PvP meter of a level 82: a skull over "Combat 42-122".

Safe places

Inside the two Varrock banks nobody can attack you, and you can't attack anyone.

Also safe: Tutorial Island until you finish it, and the Duel Arena lobby. Nobody outside a duel can attack the two inside it.

When you die

Everyone counts as skulled: you drop all you wear and carry. The Protect Item prayer keeps the one item with the highest shop value.

Board points
10 × their combat level ÷ yours, kept between 5 and 20, plus your streak before the kill (up to 10 more). A death costs 5 (never below 0) and ends your streak.
No points
The same player again within 60 minutes, a player on your own connection, or an account under 60 minutes old or with under 10 minutes on the PvP world. It still counts as a kill but does not grow your streak.
Too far apart
“Your level difference is too great!” and then your range: a level 70 sees “You can attack combat levels 45 to 95 here.”
Single combat
With your target in a single-combat area, you can't attack within 4.8 seconds of a player or live NPC hitting you, or of someone else hitting your target. A player's hit also stops you attacking NPCs.
Combat level
(10 × (Defence + Hitpoints + Prayer ÷ 2) + 13 × the highest of Attack + Strength, Ranged × 1.5 and Magic × 1.5) ÷ 40, rounding down at each step, from your real levels. Work out yours
The meter
Bottom right of your game screen: your range, or Safe zone in a bank. The skull above it is only a picture, and it uses your own Wilderness level while a fight uses the shallower one.
Wilderness
One level for every 8 squares north, and the dungeons below use the same levels. The meter never shows the level itself.
Teleports
Spells, games necklace and ring of dueling stop above Wilderness level 20; glory and ring of life above 30. There is no teleblock.
In a bank
Nobody can target you, and you can't attack. An arrow or spell already in the air still lands, and poison keeps working.
Duel Arena
Only your opponent, once the duel starts: no level or bank rules, no skull, and a death follows the duel's rules.
Mage Arena
Magic only, autocast or by hand.
Your killer
Whoever did the most damage since your Hitpoints were last full, not always the last hit.
Your drop
Only your killer sees it for 60 seconds, then everyone; it is gone after 2 minutes. Killed by an NPC, or your killer logged out: anyone can take it at once.
Untradeables
Left where you died, for you only. Items that break when dropped, like the god capes, are gone.
Agreement items
Items held by an on-chain agreement go to your bank, or your collection box if it is full.
Experience
10% of the xp in Attack, Defence, Strength, Hitpoints, Ranged and Magic, and Hitpoints stops at level 10. Protect Item off: one random other skill you have xp in, Prayer included, loses 10% and you are told which.
Lumbridge
You wake with prayers off, stats restored, full run energy, and no skull or poison.
Logging out
Not until 10 seconds after a player's last hit. A dropped connection keeps you in the world, attackable, for up to 60 seconds.
Protect prayers
Protect from Melee, Missiles or Magic cuts another player's maximum hit by 40%.
Experience rate
x10 on every skill, and 2.5% more combat xp for every 20 levels your opponent has, up to 12.5%.
