How the Market works

What you gather is yours to sell

Any tradeable item you gather or loot can be sold for real US dollars, to real players, in the game itself.

No trust trades: the item and the money change hands in one step.

Open the Market

The Market window in the game, open on Recent trades: each item with its dollar price and when it sold

Find the clerk

The Exchange clerk stands in Varrock West Bank on both worlds; on PvP that bank is a safe zone. Click Exchange on him.

Type your 4-digit Exchange PIN once each login. Three wrong PINs lock it for 15 minutes.

Sell

Click an item in your pack and set one price for the whole lot.

List waits up to 14 days, Sell now sells to the top buyers at once, Auction lets bids set the price.

Buy

Search, or browse the shelves, and open the item. Buyers pay exactly the price, no fee.

Buy takes the cheapest sellers now; a Buy offer names your price, holds the money and waits up to 14 days.

Auction

Bids set the price over 12, 24 or 48 hours; a bid in the last 5 minutes moves the end to 5 minutes after it, and a bid at the Buy Now price ends it at once.

A deposit of 1% of the start, at least $0.05, comes back at the end and is kept if you cancel. The fee is 5% of the winning bid.

Click 2 to 10 different items into My bundle and Auction them as one lot; nothing leaves your pack until then.

PIN
4 digits, 1000 to 9999. Set it up with the PIN twice, then the code we email you (needs a confirmed email).
Locks
Three wrong PINs lock it 15 minutes and we email you. A third lock within 24 hours stays until you reset the PIN by email.
Forgot, change
Forgot PIN on the PIN screen or your Account page; Change PIN in the Wallet.
Private prices
While the Market is open, a price you type never goes to public chat.
Who can trade
Anyone with an account on the site. Bot accounts cannot trade.
Starting price
The cheapest seller; with nobody selling, the guide price (the middle of the last 10 sales).
Type total
Splits your price over the lot, rounded down. Under 30% of the market, the game asks you to type it again.
Matching
At the same price the oldest offer goes first, at the waiting offer's price. You never trade with yourself.
My booth
Every open offer with how many sold and the days left. Right-click it to change the price or quantity, or to cancel.
Buy offer
Typed twice when over 3 times the market and at least $1 over it, or $20 or more with nobody selling. Leftover hold goes back to Available.
Collect
What does not fit your pack waits in your collection box; each world has its own. More than one of an item that has a note arrives noted.
Auction bids
The start is for the whole lot, at least $0.05. A bid is 5% over the top bid, rounded up, and at least $0.05 more.
Auction ends
A bid in the last 5 minutes moves the end to 5 minutes after that bid, as often as it happens. Settled every 30 seconds; the lot goes to the winner's collection box, and you can cancel only with no bids.
Bundles
A bank note and its item count as one; with no bids each item comes back to your collection box. Game window only.
Fee rounding
A sale under $0.50 pays $0.00, $0.50 to $1.49 pays $0.01; an auction under $0.10 pays $0.00.
Limits
20 open listings and 50 top bids per world; $2,000,000 for one order; offers last 14 days.
Wallet
Available, Held in market (buy offers, top bids, auction deposits), Total, payouts and all-time totals. Log in and the game tells you what happened while you were away.
