GTA 6 pre-orders are "unprecedented and astonishing" — $79.99 standard, $99.99 Ultimate

Take-Two's CEO says pre-order demand since June is unlike anything the company has seen. Here's the pricing and what launch-week demand means for services.
Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI opened in June 2026, and on Take-Two's August earnings call CEO Strauss Zelnick called the response "unprecedented and astonishing" — while admitting the numbers are so far outside precedent that the company can't model what launch sales will look like.
The pricing settled the industry's favorite argument: $79.99 for the standard edition, $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. Zelnick's view is that Rockstar "got it right" — under the feared $100 baseline for the standard game, with the premium tier carrying the extras.
Why this matters beyond the box price: pre-order volume is the best early signal of how crowded the online economy will be when it opens. GTA Online in 2013 was a land rush — the players who leveled fastest, banked first, and unlocked early ended up permanently ahead of the curve. GTA VI's online mode will open to the biggest day-one population in gaming history.
That rush is exactly what our GTA VI waitlist exists for. When the online world opens, RWT Games' service desk opens with it — money and progression handled by hand, priced fairly from day one, escrow on every order. One email on the waitlist gets you launch-week pricing and first access to service drops.
